It is a master planned community built around 1980 with almost 38 sub communities. 9432 acres of coastal land featuring Tuscan to Mediterranean style architecture and year round mild coastal weather. It is developed by the Irvine Company and in 2001 it changed status from a separate city to an affluent part of city. Crystal Cove beach Cottages right on sand can be rented by visitors. Crystal Cove Beach has pier and broad walk and surfers can surf in fabulous waves at the wedge. Newport Beach is famous for biking hiking and jogging trails and Newport Coast is no different. There is also world-class bird watching at Back-Bay. Newport Coast Community center has fitness center, conference rooms, banquet room, kitchen, patio and library. It comes under Newport Mesa Unified School District. Children go to Newport Coast Elementary, Ensign Intermediate School and Newport Harbor High School.
