3 Great Museums in Irvine, CA

Irvine is a very cultured city, and as such, it’s home to several great museums, galleries, and other attractions. These are three of our favorites, where you’ll find something for everyone.

Pretend City Children’s Museum

Pretend City Children’s Museum is such an extraordinarily unusual and fun place to take your little one. Its hands-on, interactive exhibits are led by a highly trained professional group that teach youngsters the foundations of math, reading and science. They’re having so much fun, they don’t even realize they are learning and it’s all kid-sized and kid-friendly.

Lyon Air Museum

Lyon Air Museum displays historical and authentic aircraft, as well as rare vehicles. Its focus is on World War II and it will not disappoint. Get up close to such aircraft as the Boeing B-17 “Flying Fortress” which carried then General Dwight D. Eisenhower around the Pacific. See the infamous 1942 Ford GPW Military Jeep that carried the allies through to win the war. There is a host of unique and historical machinery.

The Irvine Museum

The Irvine Museum is a small and intimate facility that strives to show California impressionism. The exhibits change out every three months, so there is always something new to see. Their collection is large and they have recently partnered with the University of California, Irvine, which will enable them to display an even larger amount at once. The exhibits and history of California are very interesting.
